For a young child, the gift of a loving family is truly invaluable. In a perfect world, every child would be able to be raised within their biological family, but that is, unfortunately, not always a viable option. In these instances, the role of foster care becomes key. A loving foster care family provides stability, love, and a feeling of belonging for children whose biological families are no longer living or who are unable to provide for them due to any number of circumstances.

This program has been a dream of LWB’s since 2016 because we believe so fully that every child deserves a family. India has one of the largest populations of children in orphanage care, so expansion of our successful foster care program here from other countries was a definite goal.

For the past few weeks, our LWB India team has been busy welcoming and caring for four little heart patients who traveled from Africa to Amrita Hospital for surgery unavailable to them in their home countries. While the children prepare for surgery and recover, their parents stay together in the regular ward of the hospital and provide each other with moral support as they wait for their children to get their essential cardiac repairs.

Over the past year, Love Without Boundaries has helped 18 Ugandan children with heart defects travel to India for cardiac repair surgery. There are very few pediatric heart surgeons in Uganda, and many parents are desperate to find help for their children. Now, three more children are preparing to travel to Amrita Hospital in India, and we can’t wait for you to get to know them!

Cyclone YAAS hit the coastal communities with such force that many homes were completely lost and others were severely damaged.
