Unity Initiative 2022: A Flurry of Hope

2022 began in a flurry of hope, thanks to supporters of our Unity Initiative. Our Unity Initiative exists to support impoverished families who are unable to provide medical care for their children.  Without this program, many families in rural China would be unable to get their children the treatment they need.

Healing Home Transformations: Jerome and Palmer

In late 2017, an orphanage contacted us about Jerome, a tiny baby with Down syndrome who was failing to thrive. He had pressure sores on his head and was so malnourished that his stomach was distended. We rushed Baby Jerome to the hospital where he was found to have a hole in his heart. He spent two months in the hospital struggling to become strong enough for surgery. Once he did have surgery, he had a difficult recovery since he was so frail.

Although Down syndrome occurs regularly in both girls and boys, in 2021 we happen to have nine little boys with Down syndrome currently living at our China Healing Home. They bring us so much joy that we wanted to highlight how truly remarkable they are — — from oldest to youngest.

Delivering Hope to Hungry Villages

At the start of this week’s Emergency Food Relief campaign, and over the last 18 months of the pandemic, we have shared stories of the many children and families in our country program locations who are desperate for food. The heartwrenching circumstances have been our motivation to continue doing all that we possibly can to help, and it is the reason we set our most recent and ambitious goal of raising $75,000 to help those in urgent need of nutrition.

Helping Others, One Smile At A Time

Julia Decker is on a mission — a mission to help others like her. Born in China with a bilateral cleft lip and palate, Julia lived in an orphanage for the first three and a half years of her life. An anonymous donor sponsored her lip surgery, which she feels was a catalyst to her getting adopted. “If I had not received this amazing gift, I might still be living in an orphanage and not with my amazing family.” Julia is now dedicated to helping other children born into the same circumstances.
