Dream Big for Vithu Village: Anna
Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda, a sweet 12-year-old with seven brothers and sisters. Her mother, who works as a migrant worker in the cassava fields, moved her family to remote Vithu Village two years ago after hearing that people who were severely impoverished could get a small plot of land of their very own.

All this week, we’ll be introducing you to some of the children living in remote Vithu Village, a region in western Cambodia which just five years ago was littered with landmines. As the explosive devices have been cleared, an increasing number of impoverished families have moved to the village despite it having no electricity, clean water, or school for the children. Of the 90 children who currently live in Vithu Village, most suffer from chronic malnutrition. LWB has set a big goal to start a primary school in the heart of Vithu Village, including a daily hot lunch program, to make sure the children have the opportunity to receive an education and a nutritious meal each day.

Sixteen years ago, Gabby McElwain was born in China and then taken to an orphanage. LWB had recently set up foster care in her city, and we were very happy when she could move into a wonderful foster family instead of being confined to an orphanage crib. For over a year, she experienced the love of a family who cared for and cherished her.

After two long flights and a layover in Dubai, our group of five little heart patients from Uganda landed safely in Kolkata, India. Our LWB India team was so excited to welcome them! Both the parents and their children were tired from the long journey, but the gift of a little stuffed toy brought smiles to their faces.
