Meeting Grace

Posted on

While visiting our Uganda programs this past month, our US team was able to visit a special girl who has been a big part of LWB’s story: Grace from Uganda. If you have followed her journey, you know LWB arranged for her to have surgery in first Kenya and then Belgium to remove thousands of tumors from her abdomen. (Read more on our blog, “Amazing Grace is Home”). Grace’s healing would never have happened without countless people around the world lifting her up and funding her life-saving medical care.

Now that Grace has recovered, LWB is working to help her attend one of the top boarding schools in Uganda — along with her two younger siblings, Hudson and Rosemary.

During our visit, Grace’s class put on a very special performance for us which we think will put a smile on your face!

Grace is working very hard at her studies. Due to her poor health, she had to drop out of school for several years and is somewhat older than many students in her class. Her principal assured us that they are committed that Grace can stay as long as it takes for her to graduate. We all want to see her at university someday!

It was such an honor for our team to meet Grace’s mom Loy, a strong and humble woman who has fought so hard for her daughter to find healing. She came a long way from their village by boat to see us.

Our team assured Loy that we are 100% committed to seeing her children stay in school.

Due to COVID, Ugandan schools were closed for two years. During that time, we we had to end our education sponsorship for Grace and her sister Rosemary. Now that schools have reopened, the sisters need our support. Please consider standing with Loy and her girls to give them access to life-changing education and hope for a better future.
