Art for Hearts: Helping Children with Heart Surgeries

This week, we’re holding our first-ever Art for Hearts auction – an event where you’re invited to enjoy artwork by children in LWB programs and bid on this art to help children in China, India, and Uganda receive the heart surgeries they so desperately need.

Many of the young artists are super excited to have their artwork chosen for this special fundraiser.  For most of these children….their artwork isn’t ever celebrated or hung up in a family’s house.  This makes it extra special that not only will these beautiful pieces be seen and appreciated, but also that funds raised from the art auction will be used to help other children. Kids helping kids…it doesn’t get any better than that!

We want to feature just one of our young artists here and hope that this will inspire you to visit our Art for Hearts site and the eBay auction page to see all 15 of the wonderful pieces that are available. This piece is called, “Sunrise in Cambodia” and was painted by Naya.

14-year-old Naya is one of three siblings who came into our Safe Haven foster care in Cambodia just over four years ago.  (We never show the faces of the children in this special program for children who have experienced trafficking or severe abuse).

Naya is a wonderful young teen who is always ready to help her foster mother with household chores and feels a great sense of responsibility to assist her younger siblings. She’s thriving at school and is particularly fond of art. We think Naya’s passion for art shines in her crayon drawing above. Can’t you just imagine yourself sitting peacefully on the water as the sun rises, suffusing the sky with color?

Funds raised from our Art for Hearts auction will be used to help three children get the surgeries they desperately need:

Alvin from Uganda

Sheela from India

Justin from China

Please consider getting in on the bidding fun or just making a donation to help us raise $15,000 to cover the costs of heart surgeries for Alvin, Sheela, and Justin. We appreciate your support for the children waiting for surgery AND for our featured young artists!
