Henan Healing Home
LWB's Henan Healing Home (HHH) opened on Children's Day, June 1, 2009. During its first year of operation, 19 children received life-changing care and cleft surgeries.
The Henan Home is devoted to caring for vulnerable babies born with cleft. Being born with a cleft lip and palate is more than a cosmetic birth defect; for many children in orphanages it can be life-threatening. We have learned that the key to helping these children is to give them the one-on-one attention they need. We work together with social welfare institutions to offer these little ones the best possible opportunity of health and healing.
The HHH has eight beds in a cozy, home-like environment. Babies with cleft lip and/or palate in need of specialized cleft care are lovingly nurtured and fed with high quality formula from cleft bottles that make it easier for them to eat. Our nannies care for only two to three babies each and have been specially trained to help the children become healthy and ready for surgeries. LWB partners with a local hospital to provide the children's surgeries and medical care, as well as post-operative care until they are healed. Once fully healed, the children are returned to their hometowns, usually to foster care, with the best chance possible of receiving adoptive families. With your help, the lives of 20 to 30 children each year can be changed.
We Need Your Help
In order to fully fund the care the children receive in our Henan Healing Home, we need several sponsors for each child. Child sponsorships are $50 per month, or $25 per month for a shared sponsorship. Each sponsor will receive a monthly update and photos of their sponsored child.
We also gratefully accept both one-time and ongoing monthly donations in any amount to support our Henan Healing Home. These funds are used for the most urgent needs that arise. Monthly updates will be sent to general donors.
