Success Stories - The Rainbow Twins

In late October these sweet girls prematurely entered the world alone and fragile. LWB quickly had them transferred to Shanghai Children's Medical Center where they were given skilled and tender care for several months. Each baby weighed just over one pound. They were given names that together mean "rainbow" and thus became known to everyone at LWB as the Rainbow Twins. Placing them in the hospital was a step of faith by our Medical team because we didn't have the funding for the long-term care we knew they would need. So many of you rallied around these girls and gave them the chance to grow. Finally they were finally big enough to be discharged from the hospital to our Heartbridge Center where they continue to get chubbier all the time. Thanks to you, these girls will crawl, walk, run, and hopefully someday run into the arms of their forever family.

Success Stories - Ying's Heart is Healed

One of the most amazing success stories from last year is of a little three-year-old boy, Ying. Ying was very blue with a severe heart defect. Just to get him from his home in Guilin to the wonderful heart hospital in Hangzhou, he needed three bags of oxygen. Ying most likely lost his family due to being too sick for them to care for him. He was abandoned later in life, and his ayi says that he still calls "Mama" sometimes in his dreams. How we wished we could let his parents know he was finally getting the chance of surgery. His surgery was a complete success. He is now pink, healthy, and healed. We have heard that his favorite activity is eating. All of the photos that we have received of him since his surgery have shown him with food!
