Medical Trips, Exchange, and Surgeries Outside of China Every year we are incredibly blessed by skilled and talented people who pay their own expenses to travel overseas to participate in LWB's medical exchanges. To date, we have arranged seven medical trips, which have provided hope and healing to over 300 children in need. In addition, we have had wonderful doctors and foundations who have donated their services to help heal Chinese orphaned children in hospitals outside of China. Physical Therapy Many children residing in orphanages across China have special needs such as cerebral palsy and spina bifida that can severely limit their mobility. Physical therapy is a wonderful way to help these children achieve their full potential. As the children meet more of their developmental milestones, they have a greater chance of being chosen by forever families of their own. Special Needs Manual CD Love Without Boundaries' programs have helped many children with special needs. In order to help orphanage nannies and foster parents to better understand the medical needs of the children in their care, the Special Needs Manual, featuring brightly colored photos and explanations of each need was compiled with explanations of a variety of pediatric medical needs. Doctors and specialists in China and the U.S. who have experience with each of these special needs, reviewed each section of this manual. The manual includes information on 60 medical special needs and is available in English on CD-ROM. Adoption While LWB is not an adoption agency, we are passionate about helping every orphaned child possible find a permanent home. We believe that when it comes to adoption, EVERY child deserves a closer look. In a new initiative, we are providing the adoption community with educational information regarding the most common pediatric special needs. Our hope is that many more families will consider the 'waiting child' path to adoption. Our Special Needs Manual has been so helpful to so many.
