Ways to Help

LWB Heroes for Hope and HealingFor College Students

  • Restaurant Fundraiser
Find a local restaurant willing to donate a portion of one night's sale to charity. Many chain restaurants have a charity night program already available! Use the proceeds to help feed hungry children in China.
  • Singing Telegram
Sell singing telegrams for birthdays or holidays.
  • Participate in a TeamLWB Event
Choose an event or create your own event (marathon, 5K walk or run, dance-a-thon, read-a-thon, etc.). Gather teammates or participate alone. Set a fundraising goal and use your personal fundraising page to get sponsors. You can choose the specific LWB program that touches your heart for your event to benefit.
  • Grocery Store Bagging
Ask to bag groceries at your local store for donations.

For Churches

  • Baby Bottle Coin Banks
Take a few plastic baby bottles and print out some photos of babies in China who need help. Place them in popular places in your church. Ask your congregation to bring their spare change each week to fill up the baby bottles so that orphaned children can receive high quality formula.
  • Book Sale
Have people in your congregation donate their used kids’ books and then hold a special sale during church one Sunday. Families can find new books for their kids to read, with all the proceeds going to help orphaned children attend school.
  • Donut Sale
Find a local donut shop willing to sell you donuts at cost to help children in need. Have someone pick them up in the morning and then have a table in the foyer of the church, selling them for $1 each.  This is a very easy way to make money each week to help orphaned children!
  • Holiday Babysitting
Hold an event at the church during holiday season where church members can drop off their children so parents can go out shopping or to dinner. This is a great project for a youth group. Charge $10 or so per family with the proceeds going to help orphaned children get TLC as well.
  • Feed the Bear
Have someone help you find the biggest stuffed bear you can find, and then carefully cut open one of the seams and remove the stuffing.  Sew it back up.  Then make a small hole in the bear’s mouth, and let your congregation know they can “feed the bear” each week  to feed orphaned children in China. See how chubby you can get your bear with spare change and bills!
