As any parent will tell you, “the family photo” is a treasure that tells a story in a way that words never could. Each picture contains precious memories for both parents and children (if they are old enough to remember) and can be brought out time after time as a way of remembering and honoring some time in the past. The family photo also shows our children that that they are valued, and that we never want to forget the image of their faces at that particular moment in time. It is a symbol of enduring love

This treasure is one that we wanted to pass on to the children in our foster care program, so that they too might be able to see how much they were loved and cherished. So we took on the ambitious project this winter of purchasing each child a new outfit for Chinese New Year, and then having individual and group portraits done by a professional photographer.

The results have far surpassed our expectations, and we hope that these precious photographs will one day find their way into the family albums of these children’s future forever families. For those children who will remain in China, we hope the photographs will be a sweet reminder of their childhood, treasured with the knowledge that so many people truly cared and wanted them to have a record of this moment in time.
