Hubei and Hunan together are very important as China's "breadbasket". The adage in China is: when there are abundant crops in Hubei and Hunan, China will eat well. Jingzhou city is surrounded by miles and miles of rice, wheat, corn, lotus and sorghum fields. In the fall of 2007, LWB opened a Believe in Me school for preschoolers and children with minor special needs at the Jingzhou, Hubei, social welfare institute. When students arrive at school, they attend a morning meeting that introduces them to the day's lesson. Our trained teaching staff encourages proper and healthy social interaction among the students. The blossoming of these youngsters into willing learners has been heartwarming, and we have been delighted to see several Jingzhou students placed in a local special needs school, receive medical services, and be adopted into their forever families. Some of the children at Jingzhou attend the local public school. In fact, one young woman, Li, graduated from high school and earned her way into Wuhan University, majoring in logistics.
